This is the 5 Year old Ariake Virgin Cask from Akashi's White Oak range.
Ariake Sangyo is a specialist barrel-maker in Japan who focuses on hand-made craftmanship and making western style barrels for storage of wine and spirits. The cask used here were new American Oak barrels which held the new make for 5 years. The whisky was then transferred to Oloroso sherry barrels, where it was finished for 6 months.
Only 1000 bottles were ever released.
