This is one of the first single malt whiskies released out of Mars Whisky's Tsunuki Distillery since it came online in November 2016. This bottle was distilled in 2017 and bottled in November 2020 having matured in a Bourbon barrel. It has a peat level of 3.5ppm.
This was part of a limited release of 1,500 bottles that were reserved as part of the Furusato Nozei tax scheme, that helps more regional areas of Japan benefit from tax.
Later single malt releases from Tsunuki have gone on to win multiple global awards, and so this one is worth tasting to experience their whisky as it was first being crafted.
